Planning a trip to Oman soon? Here is an overview of events and exhibitions taking place in various locations across the Sultanate in the next couple of months.
Since its inception in 1998, Muscat Festival has proved to be more than just a celebratory, cultural and artistic event, or merely an entertaining forum in which civilizations come together, involving multilingual activities. Yet, it is also marked by another magical touch, with a past and present sense spreading all over. It is a festival of all colors.
Al Mouj Muscat Marathon
January in Oman offers ideal weather conditions for combining sport, adventure and discovery. Following the overwhelming interest last year, the event will now be part of an extended two-day festival of running to be held on January 18 and 19, 2018.
Thursday, the opening day, will be dedicated to a Kids Run for greater engagement with the next generation of runners. While Friday will see the established Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km Race complimented by two new categories: A Charity Fun Run and a Marathon Relay open to teams of four to six runners who will each run part of the full 42km course.

Extreme Sailing Series™
Established in 2007, the Extreme Sailing Series™ is the original Stadium Racing sailing circuit designed for spectators, delivering high-performance action close to shore and putting guests at the heart of the battle. Attracting some of the world’s top sailors, racing the hydro-foiling GC32 catamarans on short courses, the global circuit spans the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the Americas. The Extreme Sailing Series also delivers a unique and bespoke VIP experience, giving guests the opportunity to race on board the high-speed boats in the Guest Sailor spot.
Formula Kite World Championships
Oman Sail will be hosting six days of intense racing where competitors will go head to head on the super-fast foiling kiteboards. Kiting is one of the world’s fastest growing sports and the event, which will be held off Muscat’s Al Hail Beach, is the latest major sporting event to be hosted by the Sultanate, building on the country’s reputation as a world class venue. Oman’s temperate climate, warm seas and steady thermal winds will provide perfect conditions for the athletes as they compete in their quest for honours.
Royal Opera House Muscat
The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) is Oman's premier venue for musical arts and culture. The opera house is located in Shati Al-Qurm district of Muscat, Oman, on Sultan Qaboos Street. Built on the royal orders of Sultan Qaboos of Oman, the Royal Opera House reflects unique contemporary Omani architecture, and has a capacity to accommodate maximum of 1,100 people. The opera house complex consists of a concert theatre, auditorium, formal landscaped gardens, cultural market with retail, luxury restaurants and an art centre for musical, theatrical and operatic productions.
