Top 10 Places to Visit in Oman

As an adventurer I truly believe that you don’t need to be in the air conditioned safety of the shopping mall or maxing out a credit card to have fun. Being outside, exploring and experiencing life whilst making memories is what life is all about.

Whether you live in the Sultanate or just passing through, yhe below list are my top 10 places to visit in Oman that showcase its diverse and breathtaking beauty that are worth a visit:

    Wadi Arbeieen

Without a doubt this is the most beautiful and scenic destination I have visited in Oman. The crystal clear pools of water and steep, rugged valley sides make this an incredible sight.

    Wahiba Sands

There is something mesmerizing about the miles upon miles of rich golden sand dunes that bring peace to my soul.

    Balcony Walk at Jebel Shams

The balcony walk leads you precariously high above the drastic rocky drops of Jebel Shams known as the ‘Grand Canyon’ of the Middle East. Standing on the edge looking down you can’t help but notice how tiny you are in comparison to this extreme landscape.

    Anantara Hotel, Jebel Akhdar

Who doesn’t love a little luxury now and again? Jebel Akhdar mountain is home to the stunning Anantara Hotel, my favorite place to stay in Oman. It’s not all relaxing and grand living at this retreat as you have the options for more energetic activities like Via Ferrata walks and scaling the cliff with abseiling and rock climbing.

    WADI SHAB

The true tourist favourite location of Wadi Shab is an exceptional place that could easily be a scene straight from a movie, it’s hard not to fall in love with this place. Relatively easily to access it makes it a popular spot with tourists looking for an array of things- adventures, photography, day tripping, picnics.

    Damaniyat Islands

Like a mirage in the ocean, the Damaniyat Islands are an incredible sight that is to seen to be believed. With crystal clear azzure waters and rich marine life you would be forgotten for believing that you were in a dream.

    Amerat Hill

Snaking high up above the city the Amerat Road is usually inhabited by cars making their own to and from the city but even higher than that my legs propel me further to take in the most beautiful scenic view from across Muscat city.

    Secluded Beaches of Qantab

Privacy and the peace to relax, Private beaches are something that most people only dream of. Only accessible by water there are beaches tucked away along the coast tempting to be your almost private beach for the day, all you have to do is jump in a fishing boat from Qantab village, locate your spot for the day and take a chance on a fun, carefree adventure.

    Al Fahal Island

Standing proud and unfaltering off the coast of Muscat city is the iconic Al Fahal island, also known as ‘shark island’ due to it’s sharp toothed friends who bask in the warm waters surrounding the island. The name and the mystery lured me in as I set out upon the 9km open sea kayak to experience the charms of this island for myself.

    Bandar Khiran

The calm, inviting waters of this sea cove are a lure for boaters to gather and enjoy the mutual interests of the ocean. On weekends several boats congregate on this location for diving, snorkeling, sunbathing, partying and socializing in a beautiful setting.www.theduncanadventures.com
