Big Bus City Tour

Fahrten in Doppeldeckerbussen machen immer Spaß, besonders, wenn man beliebig oft ein- und aussteigen kann. Angesteuert werden die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten in Muscat, darunter der Sultanspalast und das Nationalmuseum, Shatti Al Qurum in der Nähe von Qurum Beach und viele andere.

Naturkundemuseum

Located at the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, the Oman Natural History Museum provides a fascinating insight into the geological heritage of the Sultanate and its impressive flora and fauna, with displays of mammals, insects and birds as well as a beautiful botanical garden outside.

Yiti Beach

The Yiti Beach, located beyond the village of Yiti, is a small beach – about one kilometre long – that can be easily reached by car. Frequented by locals as well as tourists, it is a great spot to enjoy barbecues, camping, and fishing.

Amouage-Werk

Founded over a quarter of a century ago by royal decree, Amouage is a world-renowned luxury fragrance brand with origins in the Sultanate. In the Amouage Factory, visitors can get behind the scenes and garner an insight into the creation of some of the world’s most exclusive scents.

Omanisch-Französisches Museum

Honouring the close relationship Oman and France have enjoyed for centuries, the Omani French Museum was established by His Majesty, Sultan Qaboos bin Said and former French President, the late François Mitterrand in 1992. It is housed in Bait Faransa, the former residence of a French consul in Old Muscat.

Souk von Seeb

Located along the coastal road in Seeb, this souq is a sprawling market selling anything from stunning traditional jewellery and luxurious perfume oils, to livestock and locally grown fruits.

Galerie Stal

This art gallery was created to promote modern visual arts and aims to bring local talent into the spotlight and provide a platform for internationally acclaimed artists. Visitors can find the gallery in Madinat Sultan Qaboos, close to the British Council.

Ghalya’s Museum of Modern Art

Ghalya’s Museum of Modern Art is located along Muttrah’s beautiful waterfront – or corniche – and divided into three different exhibits: an old Omani house showcasing living in the Sultanate in the 1950s to 1970s, a museum highlighting Omani clothing and a modern art gallery.

Sur Maritime Museum

Showcasing Oman’s maritime history and traditional boatbuilding craftsmanship, the Sur Maritime Museum bears testament to the trade that marks Oman’s rich seafaring heritage. The famous, original Fatah Al Khair dhow is displayed here.

Festung Ibri

Ibri Castle was built over 400 years ago and opened for public viewing in 1995 after extensive renovations. It is home to one of the oldest mosques still in use in the country and visitors can take in stunning views across the area from the building’s battlements. One of the fort’s more unique features are the many gates which were each built for a different purpose.

Jebel al Harim

Offering spectacular views and adventurous paths, Jebel Hareem is the Musandam’s highest peak and a haven for biking enthusiasts. Local tour operators offer guided mountain biking tours.

كان يستخدم سابقا مقرا لإقامة الوالي وهو يطل على حصن الخندق. ويبلغ ارتفاع أسوار الحصن حوالي 6 أمتار وأهم ما يميز هذا الحصن عن غيره هي الرسومات والزخارف المصنوعة من الجص مما يجعله معلماً جديراً بالزيارة.
