THE BUTTERFLY LOVERS

Ballet, storytelling, drama, exquisite choreography, and an extraordinary array of acrobatic staging make The Butterfly Lovers a feast for the senses, based on a classic love story from Chinese heritage between Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai. Described as a contemporary acrobatic production, it tells of a young woman who disguises herself as a man to be allowed to study. Drawn to a fellow student, she falls in love, but as she prepares to reveal her true identity, her family arrange an advantageous match with another man. Family loyalty and true love come into conflict in a tragedy of epic scale.
